The True Resurrection

Resurrection (etymological definition) – Stems from late latin resurrectionem, a rising again from the dead.

(WEB) Ezekiel 37:1-14 – 1 “YHWH’s hand was on me, and he brought me out in YHWH’s Spirit, and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2 He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. 3 He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? I answered, Lord YHWH, you know. 4 Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear YHWH’s word. 5 Thus says the Lord YHWH to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am YHWH. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord YHWH: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. 11 Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off. 12 Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says the Lord YHWH: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 You shall know that I am YHWH, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people. 14 I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, YHWH, have spoken it and performed it, says YHWH.”

Here is, by the command of YHWH, the prophesy of the resurrection of Israel. YHWH will put his divine spirit of life in the select of Israel and they will be obedient to the will of YHWH by keeping his law. This very same prophesy is alluded to in Jeremiah 31.

Jeremiah 31:31-33 –  31 “Behold, the days come, says YHWH, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says YHWH. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says YHWH: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people….”

You might ask, “If this is the resurrection, then when did Israel die?”
Israel died when they ceased keeping YHWH’s law, which is the path of life as contrasted against the path of death, as illustrated in Deuteronomy 28 and indirectly referenced in Isaiah 65:11-12 and 20-23.

Isaiah 65:11-12 – 11 “But you who forsake YHWH, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune, and who fill up mixed wine to Destiny; 12 I will destine you to the sword, and you will all bow down to the slaughter; because when I called, you didn’t answer. When I spoke, you didn’t listen; but you did that which was evil in my eyes, and chose that in which I didn’t delight.”

Isaiah 65:20-23 – 20 “No more will there be an infant who only lives a few days, nor an old man who has not filled his days; for the child will die one hundred years old, and the sinner being one hundred years old will be accursed. 21 They will build houses, and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. 22 They will not build, and another inhabit. They will not plant, and another eat: for the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, and my chosen will long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They will not labor in vain, nor give birth for calamity; for they are the offspring of YHWH’s blessed, and their descendants with them.”
